Tana Marine Biological Laboratory
Tana Marine Biological Laboratory is located at Hirao Town, near Yanai City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It faces the western part of the Seto Inland Sea. It covers an area of 4,100m2 and has very good collection sites, tidal flat, rocky shore, and Zostera and/or Sargassum area. For research of marine biologists and seaside practices for students, it is equipped with several experimental facilities and small boats as well as overnight accommodations. A new laboratory for the ecological works was completed in 1994.

Ono Limnological Laboratory
Ono Limnological Laboratory is located on the shore of Lake Ono, an artifical lake of a constraction of a dam across the Kotoh River, in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It covers an area of 8,600m2 and includes 36 ponds for fish culture. Using these culture ponds and lake water,students study the culture techniques of freshwater fishes and practical methods of reseach work on the limnology and biology of freshwater organisms. The building and facilities were reconstructed in 1994, and a new research system for DNA analysis was equipped.
