The library holds a collection of approximately 115,000 books and 6,800 academic periodicals in the natural sciences, primarily in the fisheries sciences and oceanography. A special feature of the library is the Oshima Collection established in 1953 and named after the late Dr.Hiroshi Oshima, a former professor at Kyushu University. The collection consists of 200 books and 11,500 papers on the Echinodermata and is extensively used by researchers in Japan and abroad.
